Q:  How much freezer space is needed?

A:  The rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space for every 35 – 40 pounds of packaged meat.  A half a beef will fit inside an 8 cubic foot chest freezer.

  • 1/4 cow: 4 cubic feet
  • 1/2 cow: 8 cubic feet
  • Whole cow: 16 cubic feet
