  • Tantrum Farms ships all perishable orders weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays.  (Tuesday shipping is dependent on volume of orders)
  • Non-perishables will ship on Mondays, unless otherwise stated.
  • Local pick up of orders is available by appointment.  Please select "Local Pickup" at checkout and we will contact you or you may email info@tatrumfarms.com to make the arrangements.

Why is your shipping so expensive?

Where do you ship beef?

We ship beef from here at our shipping shop on the farm in Montana to anywhere in the Continental United States.  Local pickup is available on the ranch the first and third Monday/Tuesday each month.  Please select “Local pickup” at check out and we will email you to arrange a pickup time on one of those days.

A physical address is required for carriers (UPS and FedEx). We cannot ship to P.O. Boxes or APO addresses.

We do offer some non-perishable products (hats, sweatshirts, etc) that can be shipped non-perishable.

How often do you ship?

Tantrum Farms ships all perishable orders weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays.  (Tuesday shipping is dependent on volume of orders) to ensure delivery to your doorstep by the end of the week. Exclusions apply for holidays, weather delays and other unforeseen events.

Orders placed after the scheduled ship days are shipped on the next scheduled days.

How is beef packaged and shipped?

Our beef is shipped frozen in a completely recyclable insulated package via UPS or FedEx.  It is flash frozen in individually sealed airtight packages by our USDA inspected processor. Your Tantrum Farms Beef order is hand packed with dry ice and/or cold packs, sealed and sent.

How will my beef arrive? Is it frozen?

Beef is custom packed in an insulated shipping box with dry ice. It will arrive frozen, partially frozen or below refrigerator temperature. Beef should be placed in freezer or refrigerator immediately upon delivery.

We recommend an order minimum of at least 5 pounds to ensure optimal frozen packaging, shipment, and delivery.

My beef is partially defrosted. Can I still refreeze it?

Yes, if beef is partially frozen and at least refrigerator cold (below 40 degrees F internal temp) it is safe to refreeze.

USDA guidelines state: If food is still partly frozen, still has ice crystals, or is as cold as if it were in a refrigerator (below 40 degrees F) it is safe to refreeze or use. It is not necessary to cook raw foods before refreezing.

How do I track my order?

You will receive two emails; one confirming your order and a second confirming your order has shipped.  A tracking number will be included allowing you to track your package. Tantrum Farms offers no guarantee of delivery with incorrect addresses. Please ensure all shipping addresses are correct prior to submitting your order.

Packages are clearly marked “perishable” and will expire if not kept cold. It is the responsibility of the consumer to ensure that the contents of the package can be refrigerated promptly upon delivery. Tantrum Farms is not responsible for packages that are lost, stolen, or perish due to the recipient not being available at the time of delivery. It is the responsibility of the sender to ensure someone is available to receive a gift package at the time of delivery. It is the buyer’s responsibility to make any special arrangements upon delivery for any order shipped to any apartment address.  Please note that UPS will deliver to your doorstep with “No Signature Required” to ensure your product arrives in a timely manner.

My order has shipped. Can I make changes?

We are happy to make changes to your order at any time prior to scheduled shipping dates. If your order has shipped, it cannot be altered in any way as it is perishable and will cause delays.

How do I safely handle/dispose of the dry ice?

Many orders are packed with dry ice. But do not be alarmed if there is none remaining when your box arrives as dry ice sublimates and disappears transferring its cold temperatures to the meat. 

If there is still dry ice in your box you should ALWAYS handle dry ice with gloves. If touched briefly it is harmless, but prolonged contact with skin can freeze cells and cause injury like a burn.

  • Dispose of unneeded dry ice by letting it set out and sublimate in a safe, well-ventilated area.
  • DO NOT put dry ice in the freezer.
  • DO NOT dispose of dry ice in a sink, toilet, or other device.
  • DO NOT place dry ice on a tiled or solid surface countertop as the extreme cold will cause damage.
  • DO NOT dispose of dry ice in the trash or garbage. 
  • DO NOT seal dry ice in an airtight container.
